Yoga therapy is the application of yoga to empower individuals to improve their mental, physical, and emotional health, as well as improve or reduce symptoms of injury, illness, or diseases.
Throughout Nikka’s dance career she has suffered numerous injuries and has used Yoga and somatics to heal and prevent future or further injury. From this experience she gains insight, empathy, and skills for guiding her clients.
Nikka struggled with anxiety, depression, and self harm habits through her teens. She attributes her mental wellness and balance today to yoga. Through the practice of asana (postures), meditation, and breathing techniques she was able to heal. She feels strongly that every child and teen needs to learn these skills to cope with the stress of the modern world. She is very passionate about spreading the power and healing of yoga for mental health.
Nikka has and is working with many clients in Los Angeles to improve injuries, increase mobility and strength, as well as reduce stress. She currently teaches at multiple drug and alcohol detox and treatment centers sharing Yoga. She also specializes in teaching children with autism and or special needs through yoga therapy.
